Split & Extract PDF Pages
Pull pages out of a PDF, split a long document into parts, or break a scan into single pages — entirely in your browser. Your file is never uploaded, so confidential documents stay on your device.
Drag and drop a PDF here, or
Up to 100 MB. The file is processed locally and never uploaded.
Type a range like 1-3, 5 to see how many pages and files you will get.
Every page becomes its own PDF.
How to split or extract PDF pages
Drop a PDF in and its page count appears immediately. The Extract pages
tab keeps only the pages you list — type 1-3, 5 and the
result is a new PDF with pages 1, 2, 3, and 5 in that order. Tick
"create one PDF per range" and each comma-separated part becomes its own
document instead, so 1-3, 4-6 produces two files. The
second tab, Split every N pages, cuts the document into equal chunks:
set N to 1 to turn every page into a separate file, or to 10 to break a
long report into ten-page sections.
Page ranges explained
A range is either a single page number or a start-end pair, separated by
commas. Spaces are ignored, and the order you write them in is the order
they appear in the output — 5, 1-2 gives you page 5 first.
The parser validates every number against the document and tells you
exactly which part it could not understand, rather than silently
dropping pages or producing a file that will not open.
Splitting scans into single pages
Scanned bundles — a stack of receipts, a batch of signed forms — are the classic case for N = 1. Each page becomes an individual PDF, listed with its own download button and bundled into one ZIP so you can grab them all at once. Everything is copied locally and sequentially, so a 200-page scan does not need a 200-file upload queue; it needs only your device's memory. Scanned pages are also the ones that make a PDF heavy; why scanned PDFs compress differently explains what the PDF compressor can and can't shrink.
What splitting preserves
Pages are copied without re-rendering, so text remains selectable, images keep their original quality, and links between pages you kept still work. Document-level bookmarks and attachments are not carried into the new files, because each output is a new document. Once you have your pages, the merge tool can reassemble them, the rotator can straighten a sideways scan, and PDF to JPG turns any page into an image.
Frequently asked questions
How do I split a PDF without uploading it?
Drop the PDF onto the box above and choose how to split it. The file is read on your device, the selected pages are copied into new documents in your browser's memory, and the results download straight to you. Nothing is uploaded, which matters when the document contains a contract, a bank statement, or an ID.
How do I extract specific pages from a PDF?
Open the Extract pages tab and type the pages you want, using commas and ranges: 1-3, 5, 8-10. You get one PDF containing exactly those pages in that order. Tick "one PDF per range" to turn each part into its own file instead — for example 1-3, 4-6 creates two documents.
How do I split a PDF into separate pages?
Open the Split every N pages tab and set N to 1. Every page becomes its own PDF, listed individually and bundled into a ZIP for a one-click download. This is the usual way to break a scanned pack into single-page documents for a records system.
Does splitting reduce quality or change the pages?
No. Pages are copied from the source document without being re-rendered or re-compressed, so text stays selectable, images keep their original resolution, and page-level links keep working. The output size is roughly proportional to the pages you keep.
Can I split a password-protected PDF?
No — encrypted PDFs cannot be decrypted in the browser, so the tool rejects them with a clear message rather than producing a broken file. Remove the password in the app that created the document (or print it to a new PDF without protection) and try again.
What happens to the pages I do not select?
They are simply left out of the new document; the original file on your device is never modified. If you need the complement of a selection — removing a page rather than keeping it — extract everything except that page with two ranges, like 1-4, 6-10.
