Rotate PDF Pages
Straighten a sideways scan or turn a page upside down — choose an angle, optionally limit it to a page range, and save. The whole thing runs in your browser, so the document is never uploaded.
Drag and drop a PDF here, or
Up to 100 MB. The file is processed locally and never uploaded.
The whole document will be rotated.
How to rotate PDF pages
Add a PDF, choose how far to turn it — 90° right, 180°, or 90° left —
and click rotate. Every page's orientation is updated and the corrected
document downloads as your-file-rotated.pdf. If you leave
the page box empty the whole document is turned, which is what you want
for a scan where the scanner saved every sheet sideways.
Rotating all pages or just a selection
For documents with one stray page, type the pages that need attention,
using commas and ranges: 2-4, 7. Only those pages change
orientation and the rest are left exactly as they were. The rotation is
applied on top of whatever orientation a page already had, so rotating
the same selection twice turns it a further 90° each time — use 180° to
undo a mistaken 180°, or re-run with the opposite angle if you overshoot.
Why rotating does not affect quality
Rotation is stored as a page attribute in the PDF structure. Nothing is re-rendered and no image is re-compressed, so rotating is lossless: text remains selectable, photos keep their original resolution, and the file size stays essentially the same. It is a fundamentally different operation from exporting a page as an image and rotating that, which would flatten the text and add a generation of compression.
Fixing a sideways scan
Sheet-fed scanners and phone scanning apps frequently save pages in landscape even when the content is portrait, which is why rotated PDFs are such a common annoyance. After rotating, the split tool can break the document into single pages, the merge tool can combine it with other files, and PDF to JPG turns pages into images. Everything is local, so scanned IDs and contracts never leave your device.
Frequently asked questions
How do I rotate a PDF without uploading it?
Drop the PDF onto the box above, pick an angle, and click rotate. The page rotation is changed on your device and the corrected file downloads immediately — nothing is uploaded, which matters for scanned contracts, invoices, and IDs.
Can I rotate only some pages of a PDF?
Yes. By default the whole document is rotated, but you can type a page selection like 2-4, 7 and only those pages are turned. This is useful when a scanner saved one sheet sideways in the middle of an otherwise upright document.
Does rotating a PDF reduce its quality?
No. Rotation is stored as a page attribute, so the content is not re-rendered, re-compressed, or resampled — text stays selectable and images keep their exact resolution. The file size barely changes.
Why does my rotated PDF still look sideways in one app?
A few older or minimal PDF viewers ignore page-rotation attributes and always draw pages as stored. Modern browsers, Acrobat, macOS Preview, and phone PDF apps all respect it. If one stubborn viewer still shows the old orientation, printing the PDF to a new file flattens the rotation permanently.
Can I use this on a scanned document?
Yes — scans are the most common case, since sheet-fed scanners often save pages in landscape. Rotating a 90° scan to portrait is instant and lossless, because only the page orientation changes.
Can I rotate a password-protected PDF?
No — encrypted PDFs cannot be decrypted in the browser, so the tool rejects them with a clear message rather than saving a file that will not open. Remove the password first, then rotate.
