Case Converter

Paste your text, pick a case, and this case converter rewrites it instantly — UPPERCASE, lowercase, Title Case, Sentence case, camelCase, PascalCase, snake_case, kebab-case, or aLtErNaTiNg case. Everything runs in your browser, nothing is uploaded.

Nine ways to change text case

UPPERCASE and lowercase are the simple ones — every letter shifted the same direction. Title Case capitalizes each word for headings; Sentence case capitalizes only the start of each sentence like normal prose. The remaining four modes are the naming conventions programmers use for variables, files, and URLs, and aLtErNaTiNg case is the joke one. Switch modes with the tabs above and the conversion updates as you type.

Title Case vs Sentence case vs UPPERCASE

These three get mixed up often. Title Case is for headings and titles — every significant word capitalized. Sentence case is for body text — only the first letter of each sentence capitalized, the rest left as normal lowercase. UPPERCASE capitalizes everything, which reads as shouting in most contexts, so it is best reserved for acronyms, labels, or emphasis rather than long passages.

Programming cases: camelCase, PascalCase, snake_case, kebab-case

Different languages and platforms have different naming conventions. JavaScript variables are typically camelCase, classes are PascalCase, Python and SQL favor snake_case, and URLs, CSS classes, and file names commonly use kebab-case. This tool splits your input into individual words — handling spaces, hyphens, underscores, and even text that is already camelCase — then rejoins the words in whichever convention you need, so you can paste a plain label and get a ready-to-use identifier.

Private by design

Every conversion runs locally in your browser with no network requests, so whatever you paste never leaves your device and nothing is stored. If you also need to flip the order of characters or words, the reverse text tool pairs well with this one.

Frequently asked questions

What does a case converter do?

It rewrites the letter casing of text you paste in without changing the words themselves. Type or paste your text, pick a case from the tabs — UPPERCASE, lowercase, Title Case, Sentence case, and five more — and the result updates instantly. It saves you from manually retyping a heading, a list of names, or a variable name in a different style.

What's the difference between Title Case and Sentence case?

Title Case capitalizes the first letter of every word — "The Quick Brown Fox" — the style used for headings and titles. Sentence case only capitalizes the first letter of each sentence, the way normal prose is written — "The quick brown fox." This tool detects sentence boundaries (periods, question marks, exclamation points) and line breaks for Sentence case, so every sentence and every new line starts capitalized rather than just the very first word.

What are camelCase, PascalCase, snake_case, and kebab-case used for?

These are naming conventions used in code rather than prose. camelCase ("firstName") and PascalCase ("FirstName") are common for variables, functions, and class names in languages like JavaScript and Java. snake_case ("first_name") is standard in Python and SQL. kebab-case ("first-name") shows up in URLs, CSS class names, and file names. This tool splits your input into words — handling spaces, hyphens, underscores, and existing camelCase — then rejoins them in whichever style you pick.

Does it work on multiple lines or a whole paragraph?

Yes. Paste as much text as you like — a single word, a sentence, or a multi-line list — and every mode processes the whole input. UPPERCASE, lowercase, Title Case, Sentence case, and aLtErNaTiNg case preserve your original line breaks. The four code-naming modes (camelCase, PascalCase, snake_case, kebab-case) convert each line into its own identifier, which is handy for turning a pasted list of column headers or labels into code-ready names in one pass.

What is aLtErNaTiNg case used for?

Alternating case — sometimes called "mocking case" or "sponge case" — flips between uppercase and lowercase on every letter. It is mostly used for jokes, sarcastic captions, and internet meme text rather than anything formal, but it is a one-click option here if you need it.

Is my text uploaded anywhere?

No. Every conversion happens locally in your browser using plain JavaScript string handling — nothing you type is sent to a server, stored, or logged. That makes it safe to use for private notes, drafts, or anything else you would not want to paste into a random website. Need to count characters instead? Try our word and character counter.
